Track driven robotic pool cleaners have more grip and power, as a result they often carry scrubbers and provide deeper cleaning. Rotating brushes on tracked units scrub the walls and floor of the pool. The rotating brushes are very effective at loosening dirt and buildup at the waterlines.

Track-based models are rated to climb walls with up to a 90° incline. These pool cleaners are engineered to easily transition from pool floor to wall. This type of cleaner is also great for deep end side walls, steps and benches.

In addition to brushes, tracked pool cleaners also have power washing jets just like the wheeled units.

Wheel Based Pool Cleaners

Wheeled robotic pool cleaners are usually powered with jets rather than the wheels themselves pushing the unit. Wheeled units use power-washing jets to clean, some models also feature a non-rotating brush to help loosen dirt and debris from the walls and floor ahead of the power-washing jets.

Wheeled models are rated to climb walls with up to a 60° gradual sloping incline - specifically pertaining to deep end side walls. These cleaners may or may not climb pool steps depending on the width and depth of the steps.

Wheeled cleaners work well in irregular shaped pools that have a bowl-like structure.
